Document visible PV damage

Photographic records for maintenance

We capture rooftop and ground-mounted systems from agreed viewpoints, documenting visible anomalies on modules and accessible areas. Thermography is an additional service; electrical testing and damage assessment are performed by the appropriate specialists.

What is a visual PV inspection?

High-resolution photographs document the external condition of the system. Overview images show the array layout; detail images record areas of interest.

Coverage is limited to visible components. Concealed cables, connections and supporting structures cannot be fully assessed from the air.

Which anomalies can be documented?

  • Broken glass and damaged frames
  • Displaced or visibly deformed modules
  • Soiling, deposits and shading
  • Visible storm or hail damage
  • Anomalies on accessible fixings and cable routes

Cell microcracks and electrical faults require additional testing methods.

Your inspection deliverables

  • High-resolution overview and detail photographs
  • Images assigned to agreed asset areas
  • Records of visible anomalies
  • Data for maintenance planning and specialist assessment

Labelling and formats are agreed in advance. We can add PV thermography where needed.

When should you check a PV system?

  • After installation
  • After storms, hail or other incidents
  • When visible changes or soiling occur
  • Before maintenance work
  • Before agreed warranties expire

Photographs and thermal data help investigate output issues but do not replace electrical testing.

How your PV inspection works

From project objectives to photographic records
  1. Agree the location, system size and required results.
  2. Plan capture around site access, weather and local conditions.
  3. Review and deliver structured imagery in the agreed format.

PV inspection FAQs

Workflows, data types and results from drone inspections.

We document modules, visible fixings, cable routes and surrounding areas. Coverage depends on the structure, access and viewpoint. Aerial images cannot fully inspect concealed components.

Depending on visibility and resolution, images may show broken glass, damaged frames, displaced modules, soiling and external storm or hail damage. Standard photographs cannot reliably detect microcracks or electrical faults.

After installation, when output falls, after storms or hail, during regular maintenance and before agreed warranty periods expire.

Visual inspection documents visible anomalies on modules and accessible components. Thermography adds temperature-distribution data. The two methods can be combined.

Agreed overview and detail images with structured documentation. Coverage, asset identification and formats are agreed in advance. Image capture alone does not include a technical expert assessment.
